After a career of over 30 years in the RAF where he rose to the rank of Commandant General , in 1995, he voluntarily left the RAF to start a new and exciting career with De Beers, the South African Diamond Company. As their Head of Security, he travelled regularly to some 15 different countries including Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea and Sierra Leone.
