Personal Data

The personal data that we collect are:

  • Name;

  • Home address;

  • Email address;

  • Home or mobile telephone number;

  • Whether or not you have paid your subscription;

  • Whether or not you have given us a standing order for your subscription; and

  • Your Gift Aid status


We collect this personal data from the membership details you give us when joining the Society, or you give us in person or it is given by other members of the community to enable us to present you with a Welcome to Burford & District pack of local information.

Use of personal data

  • We will not share or disclose your personal data without your prior consent unless legally obliged to do so,

  • We will never sell your personal data under any circumstances.

  • We will use your personal data to communicate with you for the purposes of your membership especially, but without limitation, to notify and remind you of local events and lectures and of general meetings held by the Society.

  • We will retain and use your personal data for accounting and tax purposes for as long as we are legally obliged to do so.

  • Our use of your personal data will always have a lawful basis either because it is necessary to enable us to fulfil our obligations to you or because it is in our legitimate interests.

Your rights

You have the right to access the personal data held by us and to request information about:

  • What personal data we hold about you:

  • The purposes we hold them for:

  • The recipients to whom your personal data have been or will be disclosed; and

  • For how long we intend to store your personal data.

We will correct and complete any inaccurate or incomplete personal data as quickly as possible after you have drawn it to our attention. You also have the right to request erasure of personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
