BURFORD AND DISTRICT SOCIETY VISIT TO BROUGHTON CASTLE MAY 21ST 2024

Booking is required by 13th May

Go to the Burford and District Society website and visit the Events section to find out more about our visit to this special castle and to buy your ticket for the day!

If you are a member of the Historic Houses Association, do bring your card as this will give you free admittance to the Castle.

Your ticket includes the cost of admission (11 pounds each) as well as the cost of a cup of tea or coffee and slice of home made cake.

The directions for driving to the Castle are given to us from Banbury Cross.

From there take the B4035 west (signposted Shipston on Stour).

After about two miles, turn right in Broughton Village at the crossroads by the Sale and Sele Arms pub. At the bottom of the hill, turn left into the drive. The car park is the first turning on the left next to the Church.

There is no parking charge.

Please consider offering other members a seat in your car if possible. This helps them and the environment and is often more fun. If anyone would like any help with this or any other question, please do call Julia Hart on 07779109761

If you anticipate needing the lavatories, your arrival in the car park may be the time to use them as these are the only lavatories available to visitors. There are none within the Castle or tea room areas within the moat.

We are all meeting at the Castle Car Park at 2pm. Please be prompt as we then make our way to the Gatehouse to meet the Guides, who will  take us to the Great Hall for an introductory talk and split us into two groups with separate guides for the rest of the tour.

After the tour, you are free to explore the gardens or head for the

Tea room in your own time. You are also welcome to bring your own picnic and have this in the park outside the moat.
