Talk by Status Quo drummer John Coghlan

As many as eighty people attended a talk by Status Quo drummer John Coghlan and his wife Gillie organised by the Burford and District Society in September. The couple were interviewed by Nick John, editor of Blues in Britain magazine. Burford residents, as well as fans from as far afield as Birmingham and Essex, were regaled with John’s often humorous anecdotes of his life on the road with fellow 60s rock musicians Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt.

John joined Status Quo in 1962. Their hits included Pictures of Matchstick Men and Down Down which topped the charts in 1972. John left Status Quo after 20 years as their drummer although joining the band’s reunion tour in 2013/14. John and Gillie now live in Shilton and are regular attenders at Burford Society events.
